How to Catapult from Crisis into a Prosperous New Year
Preparing for a Prosperous New Year
As we prepare to launch into 2009, many are questioning the very foundation of our society. It has been a turbulent year. Much of what we previously believed, we now recognize to have been nothing more than a facade. Between our diminished home values and plummeting stock portfolios, we are clearly in a different economic situation than we were a year ago.
These are facts, but rarely is it simply the facts of our lives that create our life experience. Instead, it is what we make those facts mean that creates our reality.
Be Intentional About Your Primary Questions
One of the most important factors that will contribute to our prosperity in 2009 is the focus of our primary questions. What this implies is whether we look at our challenges and recognize them as being the end of our prosperity, or an opportunity to re-engage our greatest gifts. It is in our perspective that we will determine whether we serve or impede our own personal and professional growth.
As we explore those interpretations, a few important questions will arise. What are we to do with this new awareness? How will we capitalize on this opportunity moving forward? How do we tap into our non-depreciable human assets and find the solid foundation upon which we can confidently build our futures? It is in how we frame these questions that we shape our lives.
Turning Crisis into Opportunity
Of particular interest in this dialogue is the fact that the Chinese symbol for crisis includes danger and opportunity. Without denying the existence of crisis, this dual-purpose symbolism reminds us that what we perceive to be real is simply our perceptions of reality colored by the lens through which we view the world.
Opportunity lies within crisis. When we remain present to our lives and respond with heightened awareness, we have the ability to uncover and capitalize on the opportunity. Only from a position of conscious choice do we truly author our lives.
Be Present for Your Life
Being present demands that we remain connected to this moment, uncluttered by the regrets of the past or the fears of the future. It involves letting go of our need judge, and rather to accept what is. Ironically, only through acceptance do we tap into our unlimited potential to create the change we desire.
According to the experts, as a society, we will continue to face economic challenges for some time to come. If we as individuals are to thrive, we must master our emotions. We have the ability to consciously choose our lens and color our lives bright with opportunity. It is our most important choice and by making it, we model for others their ability to do the same.
Let us know what you do to move beyond your fears and tap into your full potential. Together, we can share our resources and build a community committed to creating what is possible.
Remember, we do not have to participate in every recession to which we are invited.
Live on purpose!
